Lab Hardware and Software
There are 5 computer labs on the campus. The labs are part of the UHSSL computer network. The main servers run Microsoft Windows 2003 Server while the individual workstations run Microsoft Windows XP Professional. The labs also have a variety of software installed and a high-speed connection to the Internet. The hardware and software profiles for each lab are listed below.
When the Multimedia Lab and Instructional Computer Labs are not being used for classes, students may meet in them and do group work and projects. Only students in the CS/IS program may use the CS/IS Instructional Computer Lab.

The Open Computer Lab is located on 3rd floor in Room 303. Students may use it for educational, instructional, and university business during its hours of operation

Multimedia Computer Lab
The Multimedia Lab is located on the 3rd floor in Room 305. It is designed as a multipurpose classroom for general classes, ITV classes, and classes needing computing resources. There are 28 PC workstations in the lab.
When classes are not scheduled for the lab, students may use the room for group work or projects that require discussion or a louder noise level than what is allowed in the open computer lab.

Instructional Computer Lab
The Instructional Computer Labs are located on the 3rd floor in Room 302 and 306. It is designed as a multipurpose classroom for general classes and classes needing computing resources.
There are 30 PC workstations in the lab, with wired access to the network and Internet. When classes are not scheduled for the lab, students may use the room for group work or projects that require discussion or a louder noise level than what is allowed in the open computer lab.

Mobile Computer Lab
The mobile lab consists of 35 laptop computers. The computers access the network and Internet through wireless technology. When classes are not scheduled for the lab, students may use the laptops in an available classroom for group work or projects that require discussion or a louder noise level than what is allowed in the open computer lab.

CS/IS Instructional Computer Lab
The Computer Science / Information Systems (CS/IS) Instructional Computer Lab is located on the 3rd floor in Room 312. It is designed as a multipurpose room. The lab is used as a combined classroom and computer lab for classes in the Computer Science / Information Systems program and as a classroom for general classes.
The lab consists of 25 workstations and desktop PC's, as well as several network servers and routers. When classes are not scheduled in the lab, CS/IS students may use is to complete projects or work on assignments in their CS/IS classes. However, the lab is kept locked and students must contact the technical staff at the Help Desk to get access to it.
Software packages installed on all of the equipment are determined by the instructors in the CS/IS program. The lab is NOT a general use lab and the software is changed according to the needs of the CS/IS program.
